After her modeling debut during Lakme Fashion Week Anushka did various campaigns for companies like and she's done ads for their Silk & Shine Whisper Nathella Jewelry as well as Fiat Palio etc. Anushka Sharma alongside her modelling profession, enrolled in an acting academy and started giving auditions for films. Anushka Sharma's first acting role was in the movie Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi featuring Shah Rukh Khan. The actress took time to prepare and did not do the test impromptu. After that, she signed up for three films together with Yash Raj Films. She was the young wife of a man who was older in the movie (the same role that Shah Rukh Khan played). The film was hit on the box office and was the second-highest-grossing movie of 2008. In 2010 Anushka Sharma starred in the film 'Badmash Company with Shahid Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor, Vir Das and Meiyang Chang. The movie received mixed praises. That same year Anushka Sharma was seen in the movie 'Band Baaja Baaraat' alongside Ranveer Singh in an upper-middle class Punjabi girl who begins her own wedding planning business. The movie got positive reviews. Anushka's contract for three films at Yash Raj Films ended with Band Baaja Baraat.
